He was one of the early settlers of Ringgold county, Iowa, purchasing his farm on the county line in 1874, which he improved and lived on until his health failed in 1895, when he moved with his family to Pearland, Texas, where he bought and improved property. They were the victims of the great Galveston storm, September 8, 1900, from which he never entirely recovered. Funeral services were held in Pearland, Texas; interment at Pearland cemetery.
