JOHN S. HOGUE
was born in Butler county, Ohio, October 17, 1831, and departed this life March 16, 1904, aged 72 years, 5 months and 1 day. When a young man he went to Warren county, Illinois, where he was married September 22, 1857, to Matilda QUINN. To this union four children were born - three sons and one daughter. The children are all living except the youngest son, John F., who died about eight years ago. His two sons, Samuel and Harry HOGUE, live in Nebraska, and his daughter, Mrs. T. A. TOUZALIN, resides in this city.

He was united in marriage January 24, 1877, to Miss Sallie MOZINGO, of Page county, Iowa, who has been a devorted wife and faithfully did all she could in his last sickness, which was of about two years duration, to make him comfortable. He came to Ringgold county in 1883 and has lived in and near Tingley for about nine years. The past winter he has lived with his daughter, Mrs. TOUZALIN, where she migth assist in caring for him.

He has long been a member of the United Presbyterian church and the funeral was conducted from that church last Thursday afternoon. He leaves a wife, three children, eleven grandchildren and five brothers and one sister to mourn his death. Interment was made in the Tingley cemetery.
