OBITUARY - E. D. HARVEY
Elijah Dixon HARVEY was born in McLean county, Ill. May 10, 1837, and died at his home in Tingley Jan. 7th 1915, aged 77 years, 7 months and 27 days. He moved to Washington county, Iowa, at an early age, remaining there till 1881 when he moved to Hardin county. He was united in marriage to Miss Cynthia J. REED in 1860 and lived with her in loving fellowship until her death in 1890. He moved to Ringgold county in 1899, and has resided here ever since. Born in the family of a Methodist class leader, it may be said that he grew up in the Methodist Episcopal church. He was by nature of a gentle, kindly disposition, and his influence was always for good. He was a good neighbor, and a trustworthy friend. The children still living are J. E. HARVEY of Le Grand, Iowa, Mrs. J. H. SHARP of Tingley, Iowa, P. D. HARVEY of Le Grand, Iowa, Mrs. Ida MOORE of Ft. Morgan, Colo., and W. B. HARVEY of Tingley, Iowa. All of the children were present at the funeral services which were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist Episcopal church conducted by the pastor, Rev. R. T. HODGSON, and attended by a congregation which completely filled the large auditorium. The remains were taken to Hubbard, Iowa via Shannon City that evening attended by his three sons, and interment made by the side of his wife.
