Baker, Earl -
Earl Baker was born to Ernest and Rosa (Beck) Baker on January 28, 1924. He lived on
their farm north of Clearfield until he married Nina Reed on January 28, 1946. Born to
this union were three children; Juanita Heimke of Creston, Galen Baker & wife Cindy of
Clearfield, and Marvin Baker & wife Kathleen of Corning.
After the passing of Earl's wife Nina in 1983, Earl was joined in marriage to Bonnie
Melby of Soldier, IA on June 21, 1986. He gained three daughters with this union;
Leona Kennedy & husband Tom of Soldier, IA, Laura Scaton & friend Rick Meentz of
Denison, IA, and Cindy Lee & friend Dale Longlee of Castana, IA.
Earl was a productive and giving member of his community by spearheading Taygold
Cooperative formation in 1964 and serving as its board president for 40 years. Me
also sold Nortrup King Seed Com from 1960 to 2008. He was a member of the
Clearfield Lions and a past Clearfield School Board member. Earl died at his home
on February 19, 2008.
Mourning Earl's passing are his wife Bonnie Baker of Clearfield; his two brothers,
Gerald Baker & wife Dorothy and Carroll Baker & wife Leanne both of Clearfield,
his six children, 17 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
Earl's grandchildren & great grandchildren are Gabriel (Garnet) Baker of Kansas City,
MO, Mark Heimke (fiance Tricia Goetl) of Des Moines, IA, Gretchen Baker (fiance
TJ. Vasquez) and daughter Genesis of West Des Moines, IA, Gentry Baker (fiance
Bryce Landers) of Des Moines, Rocky Baker (friend Heather) and son Wyatt of
Clearfield, Colby (friend Kristen), Hannah, and Natalie Baker and Kaitlin Buscher of
Corning, IA, Brittany Baker of Galva, IA, Troy (Jill) Armstrong and children Alexa
and Benjamin of Firth, NE, Trygve (Devonna) Armstrong and children Hannah,
Christian, and Gabriel of Denver, CO, Bryan (Lori) Seaton and son Nathan
of Des Moines, Jennifer (Matt) Corbett of Vinton, IA, Heather (Bart) Monaster
of Omaha, NE, Jayna Lee and son Ryder of Denison, and Andy Lee of Denison.
Loved ones preceding Earl's death are his parents; wife Nina; granddaughter
Amanda Kennedy; son-in-law Gary Heimke; niece Connie Baker; and many aunts,
uncles and cousins.
