Boyd Russel Larsen, 72, Clearfield, died January 15, 2004 at the Greater Community Hospital, Creston.
Boyd, son of Fern (Quartz) and Chris Larsen was born January 22, 1931, in Loup City, NE. The family moved to
Westboro, Mo., in 1941 and then to the family farm South of Clearfield in Ringgold County in 1943. He attended country
school thru the 8th grade and graduated from Clearfield High School in 1948. Boyd was united in marriage to Cleota
Horton, October 29, 1949. To this union four children were born. Boyd and Cleota farmed South of Clearfield until
1998, moving to town in 1986. Boyd sold Moorman's Feed for 19 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the
Clearfield United Methodist Church, Clearfield Lions Club, 17 Club and Night Bridge Club. He served as a member and
past president of Clearfield Community School Board. Boyd was a great sports enthusiast, enjoying the many sporting
activities of his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Cleota; four children, Kenny (wife Dixie), Clearfield, Carol Worthington, San Marcos, TX,
Colleen (husband Fred) Gower, Olathe, KS. Keith (wife Sherry), Olathe, KS., and eight grandchildren; brothers Glen
(wife Helen) and Jim (wife Eleanor); sisters-in-law Dorothea Larsen, Darlene Larsen, Priscilla Harvey, Kay
(husband Lanny) Douglas, and Carol Lee (husband Ray) Fisher.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Orrin, Richard and Harold; brothers-in-law, Vernie, Bob and
John Horton.
Memorials are to the Hospice of Central Iowa at Mount Ayr and the Dialysis Unit at Greater Community Hospital,
Creston.
The services were held on Sunday, January 18, 2004 at the United Methodist Church, Clearfield. The Rev. Len
Garrison officiated. Music was by Randy Trost and included: "Daddy's Hands" and "Go Rest High On The Mountain". The
casket Bearers were Ray Dean Larsen, Bill Larsen, Ed Douglas, Monty Douglas, Jerry Brown and Doug Horton.
Burial was in the Clearfield Cemetery, Clearfield.
Wilson- Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
