Thursday, November 10, 1966OBITUARY ~ BETHA BEATRICE "BEA" (CARNES) DAY
March 29, 1889 ~ November 05, 1966Betha Beatrice DAY, daughter of the late Nathan and Edith McCLURE CARNES, was born March 29, 1889, at Galt, Mo., and departed from this life on Nov. 5, 1966, in the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.
She grew to young womanhood at Galt and at an early age became a member of the Christian Church. Later, she moved to St. Joseph, Mo.
On Nov. 5, 1941, she was united in marriage with Elmer J. DAY and they lived in the Berlin, Missouri community until 1959, when they retired and moved to Redding, Iowa, where they have since made their home.
No children were born of this union, but she as a loving and affectionate mother to Mrs. Quindora GREGORY, of Monte, Calif., Mrs. Vima Jean DAVIS, of Redding, Mrs. June PERRY, of Chicago, Ill., and E. J. DAY, of St. Louis, Mo. These children were left motherless and she took them into her life as her very own. She also dearly loved her eight grandchildren.
Bea, as she was known to her vast number of friends, was active in all community activites and a member of the Redding Methodist Church. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Allie McINERNEY, and a brother, Will CARNES.
In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Jessie WILLIS, of Duncan, Okla., and a brother, Clifford C. CARNES, of Williamsburg.
Funeral services were held Nov. 8, from the Redding Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Clarence Landis. Mrs. Esse Freed, vocalist, was accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Bernice Lynch.
Casketbearers were Archie Bailey, Jack Bailey, John Sickels, Gene Olney, Dean Norris and Harold Combs. Flower ladies were the Mesdames Henry Seiffert, James Griffith, Jerry Hiatt and W.E. Kelley. Interment was in the Berlin Cemetery at Berlin, Mo.
