Lyle Edwin Shrimpton, 69, a resident of rural Atlantic passed away Thursday, June 10, 1999 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha.

Lyle was the son of Forrest and Viola Parsons Shrimpton and was born March 17, 1930, in New Market, Iowa. Lyle attended grade school in New Market, Iowa.

After the death of his parents, he lived with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parsons and completed his education in Bedford, Iowa. He served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. Some of his medals were: Korean Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medals and Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.
After the war he returned to Bedford where he married Pearl Lee Hays and they were blessed with a daughter, Bonnie Mary. They moved to Atlantic in 1955.

Lyle was a city mail carrier at the Atlantic Post Office for 30 years. After his retirement the family purchased Gift World in Atlantic. Lyle was a member of the Atlantic Methodist Church and the American Legion.

Surviving are his wife, Pearl, his daughter Bonnie Jensen, two grandchildren, Nichole Stuart and Tobin Jensen, one great-grandson, Cain Thomas Stuart, all of Atlantic, one brother Marlin Shrimpton of Lenox, two sisters-in-law, Irma Shrimpton of Clearfield, IA and Maria Juhl of Elk Horn, IA, one aunt, Mae Woodruff of New Market, IA, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and one brother, Alvin (Baldy) Shrimpton.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 1999 at the Roland
Funeral Home with Rev. Charles J. Downing officiating. Interment was in the Clearfield Cemetery in Clearfield, Iowa.
