OBITUARY - THELMA JEANNE (NELSON) BROWN
December 4, 1927 - November 30, 2010

Thelma Jeanne NELSON BROWN, daughter of Lyle and Bessie HOUSE NELSON, was born on December 4, 1927, in Clearfield, Iowa, and passed away at Clearview Nursing Home in Clearfield on November 30, 2010.

Thelma lived her entire life on farms around Clearfield. She attended country schools and graduated from Clearfield High School in 1945. She was married to Dale Buchanan BROWN on October 6, 1946, and to this union was born five children: Allen James, Ronald Dale, Betty Lou, Kathy Jean, and Clinton Buchanan.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, United Methodist Church, and UMW. She enjoyed life on the farm, raising her family, and helping others. She spent many hours in her garden and was a wonderful cook. She made many blue jean quilts and loved taking family trips. She took great joy in her grandchildren and their activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, her parents, brothers-in-law Paul BROWN and Raymond TAYLOR.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Allen and Suzanne BROWN of Clearfield, Ron and Nancy BROWN of Diagonal, Betty Lou and David GROVES of Mount Ayr, Kathy and Robert STEINBACH of Ankeny, and Clint and Heather BROWN of Creston; six grandchildren, Amanda (Kurt) STOAKS, Aaron (Shannon) GROVES, Tara (Jim) MURPHY, Austin STEINBACH, Chance and Spencer BROWN; eight great-grandchildren, Todd, Jacy, and Tyra STOAKS; Cameron and Braylon WELCH-GROVES, and Evan, Aidan, and Ashlyn MURPHY; sister, Darlene TAYLOR, brothers, Dean (Mildred) NELSON and Paul (Joann) NELSON; sister-in-law Lavon BROWN, and many nieces and nephews.

Services Thursday, December 2 at 10:30, United Methodist Church of Clearfield with interment Clearfield Cemetery. Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home of Clearfield in charge of arrangements.
