OBITUARY - THOMAS ALFRED STANLEY.

Thomas Alfred STANLEY, eldest son of John H. and Jane STANLEY, was born at Kewanee, Ill., on August 12, 1878, and departed this life September 10, 1937, at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 59 years and 28 days. He moved from Kewanee, Ill. at the age of six years to Andover, Neb., where he resided with his parents until he became the age of 24 years.

On July 3, 1902, he was united in marriage to mary Alice BUTCHER, and to this union were born four children, John Harold of Davenport, Mrs. Don F. MONROE of Unionville, Mo., Thomas Darrell and Alfred Junior, of Mount Ayr.

He leaves to mourn his wife, four children, three grandchildren, his aged mother, four brothers, Fred and of Andover, Mo., Walter of Blythedale, Mo., and Bryan of Bethany Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl BROWN, of Des Moines, and Mrs. Lillian OLSEN of Phoenix, Ariz., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. STANLEY has been in the employ of the Burlington Railroad Co. for the past 43 years, the last 33 years as section foreman.

He was a devoted husband and father and numbered his friends by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Rhoades Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Dan BORDAN, of Lamoni, and the body laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery [Mount Ayr].
