OBITUARY - PEARL L. (WARNER) SMITH JOHNSON

Pearl L. JOHNSON, 92, of Peoria, Arizona went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 24, 2010 with many of her family at her side. She passed away peacefully at "The Golden Home", a group home whose caretakers became like family to all of Pearl's family.

Pearl was born in Kellerton, Iowa on February 18, 1918 to Lewis and Susie (GRAY) WARNER. She was one of 12 children, but her Mother always found time to love each and every one. When she was very young, her family moved to Omaha, Nebraska and in 1946 moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she spent the rest of her life with the exception of traveling around this great United States.

Pearl was one of the "Rosie the Riveters" during the Second World War working for Martin Aircraft in Omaha on the P-38, B-24, B-29 and B-27 from 1942 to 1945. She later worked for a department store for a short time. However, first and foremost, Pearl was a mother to Ray (Delores), her oldest son, Myrna, her daughter and the youngest son Stephen, along with her grandchildren, Julie (Bernard), Marvin (deceased) (Carol), Kathy, Brenda (Jayme), Joel (Heather), Aaron (Jen) and several great-great grandchildren. Two step-children Sandra (Carl) and WARNER Jr. (Jaimee). Pearl was happily married to Lawrence SMITH for 48 years when he passed on in 1982. When she was 72 years of age, she met a wonderful man, Warner JOHNSON, who showered her with love and caring. Warner was four days older than Pearl and always bragged about his ability to marry a younger woman. They had 20 wonderful years together before he passed on in April of 2010.

Pearl was predeceased by two husbands, mother and father and 9 siblings, but leaves behind two sisters who love her very much, Vella WOLVERTON of St. Joseph, Missouri and Charlotte BOWMAN of Sun City, Arizona. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly. Pearl was a born again Christian who loved her Lord with all her soul, all her might and all her being and she was welcomed to Heaven by the angels and a very large family.

The funeral service will be conducted by Pastor James Porter at Phoenix Memorial Mortuary, 200 West Beardsley Road, Phoenix, AZ, on Saturday, August 28 at 1:00 p.m. with a viewing from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. If it is your desire you may send donations directed to the Phoenix Rescue Mission 1801 South 35th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85009, International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, P.O. Box 96105, Washington, D.C. 20090 or Prime Care Hospice, P.O. Box 2086, Sun City, Arizona 85372. If you can join us in celebrating her life, we would love to have you, but if that isn't possible, please keep us in your prayers.
