OBITUARY - BONNIE LEA SHACKELTON SCOTT
April 22, 1925 - November 26, 2010

Bonnie was born April 22, 1925 to Josiah and Bertha COULSON SHACKELTON in Harrison County, Missouri. She departed this life on November 26, 2010 at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa.

Bonnie grew up with three sisters, Arlene, Juanita, and Graceland; with her being the youngest. Bonnie attended rural schools through the eighth grade and after school, she hired out helping local women by doing odd jobs for ten cents a day or twenty-five cents a week. She finally got a job waiting tables in Lamoni where she met her life partner, Blaine SCOTT.

Blaine and Bonnie were wed on March 26, 1947 in Troy, Kansas at the courthouse. After marriage, she adapted to being a farmer’s wife. On August 25, 1949, the union was blessed with a son Richard; followed by a daughter, Ronda, on February 28, 1955; then last but not least Rebecca (Becky) was born on July 26, 1956. As her children grew, Bonnie worked at Graceland College, Ringgold County Hospital, and Clearview Home in Mount Ayr before her health started to decline. In March 1974, Bonnie and Blaine moved to Kellerton where they lived until Blaine's death in August 2008. Due to declining health, Bonnie moved to Clearview Home in Mount Ayr in May 2009. She enjoyed her times at Clearview Home, especially visiting with the employees and harassing them. Bonnie was special to many of the employees. Bonnie will be remembered most for her good cooking, hard work, and loving her family.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; sisters; brothers-in-law; husband Blaine; son Richard; one grandson, one great-granddaughter, and one great-great-grandson.

Bonnie is survived by her daughters Ronda (John) BROWN and Becky (Tom) GILES, all of Kellerton, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives too numerous to mention.

Bonnie will be laid to rest at Maple Row Cemetery in Kellerton next to her life-partner Blaine.

Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr was in charge of the arrangements.
