WINNETT MAN DIES in HOSPITAL

Harry Garfield TODD, 70, of Winnett, Petroleum county manager, died Wednesday morning [September 29, 1954] in a Billings [Montana] hospital of a heart ailment. He had been a patient at the hospital nine days.

He was born Feb. 12, 1884, at Mt. Ayr, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry [Delilah Annn (JARVIS)] TODD, and married Miss Amelia Jeannette SLATTERY on Oct. 19, 1904, in Diagonal, Iowa. They moved to Montana in 1918, establishing residence near Hysham, where they homesteaded.MO

Mr. and Mrs. TODD moved to Ryegate in 1923 where they lived until 1951. While in Ryegate Mr. TODD served as treasurer of Golden Valley couty, county clerk and recorder and county sheriff. In 1948 he was the Republican candidate for state treasurer.

Mr. TODD and his wife moved to Winnett in June 1951 where he assumed his duties as petroleum county manager.

He was a member of Temple Lodge No. 101, AF & AM, of Ryegate. He also was a member of Elizabeth Currie Chapter No. 77, Order of Eastern Star, and the Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Stanley of Fairbanks, Alaska, Raymond of Great Falls, James of 3926 1st Ave. S., and martin of Sturgis, S.D.; a brother, Homer P. TODD of Mt. Ayr; a sister, Mrs. Bert BROWN of Clearfield, Iowa, and eight grandchildren.

The body is at Settergren's Funeral Home.
