OBITUARY - GLEE FRANK JONES

Glee Frank JONES was born May 7, 1912, on a farm near Creston, to Fred and Flossie WHITTLESEY JONES, and passed away October 3, 1996, at his home in Shannon City, at the age of 84.

The family lived on several farms in the Creston area before moving to the GUSTIN Place, four miles west of Shannon. Glee quit school after the 8th grade to help with the family farming.

On April 15, 1936, he married Bernadine HOFFMAN at Grant City, MO. They started their married life on the NOLAN Place southwest of Shannon City. In 1944 a farm was purchased 2 miles west of Shannon City where their son Ted now lives. In 1959 the family moved to Shannon City where Bernadine operated the telephone office for a few years. Glee retired from farming in 1992. Many toiling years werre spent doing what Glee liked doing best . . . Farming.

Glee was a devoted husband & father. Hunting & fishing were two of his favorite pastimes along with spending time with very close relatives & friends over a cup of coffee each morning at his home. Visits from his great-grandchildren were very special to him. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. We will miss that twinkle in his eyes and that special smile.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Harry JONES; 2 sisters, Hazel IBBOTSON & Fairy BATA; and a nephew Duane JONES.

Survivors include his wife Bernadine of Shannon; 3 sons, Ron & wife Lucille JONES of Afton, Ted & wife Kate JONES and Rich & wife Marcia JONES of Shannon; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; 4 nieces, Reva SHIFFLET, Donna McDONALD, Louise FROIT, and GLoria CHALEK; 1 nephew Jack JONES; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale and wife Doris HOFFMAN, Jack & wife Althea HOFFMAN, and Jerry & wife Ella Jean HOFFMAN.

Services were held Saturday, October 5, 1996, at 10:00 a.m., United Methodist Church of Shannon City, Rev. Pam FARREN officiating. Musicans were Judy NEWTON and Don WILSON. Casketbearers were Randy PETTIT, Doug JONES, Greg CARLSON, Terry McNAMARA, David CAMPBELL, David JONES, Brad JONES, Jan PETTIT, Tami CARLSON, Sheri McNAMARA, Karen JONES, Darci CAMPBELL, Traci JONES and Tiffani JONES. Honorary pallbearers were Reva SHIFFLET, Louise FROIT, Jack JONES, Bob CHALEK, Tim HOFFMAN, Craig HOFFMAN, Mike CRITTENDEN, Thad HOFFMAN, Richard IDE, Bryan COOK, Donna McDONALD, Larry HOFFMAN, Tootie JONES, Gloria CHALEk, Elaine HOFFMAN, Chelle HOFFMAN, Gayla CRITTENDEN, Jennifer HOFFMAN and Donald VORHIES.

Interment was made at Oakland Cemetery, Shannon City.
