OBITUARY.

Joseph FRIEND was born in [Diagonal] Ringgold County, Iowa, November 1, 1853, and moved with his parents [Freeman L. & Rebecca Jane (SMALL) FRIEND] to Harrison county, Missouri, in 1862, where on January 10, 1880 he was united in marriage to Mattie FALLIS. To this union were born eight children, six sons and two daughters, of whom three are now living: Earl and Frank of Stockton, Califronia, and Eugene of Portland, Oregon.

In 1882, he moved with his family to Saline county, Nebraska. In 1884 he settled on a homestead overlapping the Buffalo county line north of Sartoria, Nebraska. From there in 1902 he moved with his family to Miller, Nebraska, and again in 1909 he moved to Kearney, their present hom.

While in Miller he united with the Christian church. Besides his family a host of friends mourn their loss.

Interment Kerney, Nebraska.
