OBITUARY - DARLENE N. ROGERS

Darlene Nell ROGERS was born April 23, 1936, in Diagnal, Iowa. She was the daughter of Alfred and Edna Marie (JOHNSON) ADKISSON. She passed away July 10, 1997, at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella at the age of 61 years, 2 months, 17 days.

Darlene graduated from Diagonal High School. She was married in 1954 to Gene Harry ROGERS. To the union was born a daughter, Becky.

During their time in Lenox, Darlene cooked at Dick's Cafe and worked at Sheridan Eggo Co. She was a member of the Lenox Christian Church at that time. She also enjoyed bowling during her spare time as well as fishing with her husband, Gene.

About 30 years ago, Gene and Darlene moved to Pella, where they have made theri home ever since. She was a manager at the Gibson's Discount Store there until she became manager of Sunrise Trailer Court 15 years ago. She was a member of the Christian Church in Pella. Darlene continued to enjoy fishing and bowling in Pella.

She was preceded in death by her parents; borthers Ernie and Cecil Adkisson; and sister Doris THOMPSON.

Those who will always cherish her memory are husband Gene ROGERS of Pella; daughter Becky JOHNSON and husband Dusty of Oskaloosa; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother Lavern ADKISSON of Clearfield; sisters Donna FARRENS and husband Dale of Maryville, Mo., Lillian DAY and husband Bud of Kansas City, Katie STONE and husband Jim of Diagonal, Mary Lou CAMPBELL and husband Johnny of Rogers, Ark., Albena ADKISSON of Cincinnati, Iowa and Janice WILSON of Clearfield; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 14, 1998, at 11 a.m. at Coen-Beaty Funearl Home in Lenox with Rev. Dena WOLDRUFF officiating. Burial was in the North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox.

Serving as pallbearers were Mike BURK, Chris JONES, Alan ADKISSON, Gail MATHENY, Harry FREEMAN, and Gene MARSHAL. Kathryn WILSON was the organist.

Memorials may be directed to the family. Coen-Beaty Funeral Home of Lenox was in charge of funeral arrangements.
