OBITUARY - LESLIE FAYE SALTZMAN

IOWA FALLS — Leslie Faye SALTZMAN, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at the Ellsworth Memorial Hospital in Iowa Falls, at the age of 88.

Les was born on August 25, 1918 in Mount Ayr, to Earl and Hazel (STRAIGHT) SALTZMAN. On September 30, 1939, Les was united in marriage to Ruth (WIMER) SALTZMAN in Mount Ayr. To this union two sons were born, Dennis and Donald in Waterloo. He was a longtime resident of Denver, Iowa, and just recently moved to Iowa Falls to be near his son, Dennis.

Les was a man of many skills. Along with his brother, Evan, he built their home in Denver, was a self-taught mechanic, a woodworker, a “pool shark” and an avid golfer. He was employed by the John Deere Company and Rath Packing in Waterloo for nearly 40 years. He also owned and operated two taverns/cafes in Cambridge and Denver.

Les is survived by his wife; sons; three grandchildren, Dee (Curt) ADOLPHSON of Solon, Kelli (Treg) JAMESSON of Keystone and Dr. Ryan (Jeri) SALTZMAN of Gilbert; and eight great-grandchildren, Jack and Jenna ADOLPHSON, Cale and Lanie JAMESSON, and Maura, Nathan, Maria and Anna SALTZMAN.

Les is also survived by his sisters, Lois LITCHFIELD of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Rhea June NEIGHBORS of Mason City, Rella SOUTHARD of Cedar Falls and Emma MORGANSON of Cedar Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Evan; and two sisters, Wilma LOOMIS and Caryl JEANES.
