Funeral Services Held Yesterday
Was Resident Here For Nearly 50 YearsMrs. Matilda RADCLIFFE, passed away Tues evening at the Atkinson Hospital where she had been for medical treatment the past few months. Mrs. RADCLIFFE was 65 years of age and for nearly 50 years was a resident of this community.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist Church in Atkinson. The Rev. Geo. M. CARTER conducted the services. Burial was made in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Matilda MLINAR was born in Ringgold Co, Iowa, Dec. 24, 1866. She came to Holt County in 1884 with her parents, who settled on a homestead in the Green Valley neighborhood southwest of Aktinson. Here her parents lived until their death.
She was married to James RADCLIFFE on Nov. 23, 1893. To them were born 2 children, a daughter who died in infancy and a son, Edward RADCLIFFE of San Francisco, California, who with his wife and baby Donald, was here with his mother during her last illness. Mrs. RADCLIFFE'S husband died 15 years ago.
About 4 months ago Mrs. RADCLIFFE'S health began to fail and she was taken to the hospital for medical attention. Through her many years of life in this community a great number of friendships were made among her neighbors and acquaintances, these knowing her as a kind neighbor, loving friend, and a true Christian.
Mrs. RADCLIFFE, was one of a family of 15 children, 8 of whom survive her. Four brothers, Fred, Frank, Joseph and John MLINAR live at Atkinson. Three sisters also live here. They are Cora TASLER, Mrs. Barbara JONES and Mrs. Pauline DAVIS. One sister, Mrs. Mary REISER, lives at Butte, Nebr.
