Hiram ALLARD passed away quite suddenly Saturday night at the home of his son, Charles ALLARD, where he had made his home for a short time.
A short house service was held Tuesday morning at l0 o'clock. The same was conducted by Rev. Raoul R. MOSER, of the Methodist Episcopal Church, after which the body was laid to rest in Leon's Cemetery.
Hiram ALLARD was born February 19, 1844, at St. Charles, Illinois, and died at Leon, Iowa, January 27, 1917; age 72 years, 11 months and 8 days. He came to Iowa in 1867 and has been a resident of Decatur County ever since.
For the past twenty-five years he has lived in Leon. In 1872, he was married to Miss Harriett Maranda PHELPS. Eight children were born of this union, namely, four boys and four girls, all of whom survive their father. They are Mrs. Ella DOOLEY, of Jerome, Iowa; Mrs. Cora ZIMMERMAN, of Kellerton, Iowa; Clifford and Oday ALLARD, of Knoxville, Iowa; Mrs. Grace ZELLARS, of Centerville, Iowa; Charles ALLARD, of Leon, Iowa; Mrs. Mary E. RUMLEY, of Bloomfield, Iowa, and Harvey ALLARD.
Mr. ALLARD was converted in early manhood and at that time united with the Methodist Episcopal Church. He was a firm believer in God's Holy Word, and faced Eternity trusting his Savior's love. The eternal regulations of Heaven are that they that "seek shall find."
