MATILDA COLLIER
Dies Here at 82Mrs Matilda COLLIER, 82, died at the Greater Community hospital here at 11:20 a. m. Sunday [January 27, 1952]. Mrs. COLLIER, whose home was at 1910 west Montgomery street, had been ill for several years. She had lived in Creston since 1929.
Funeral services will be held at the First Christian church here at 2:30 p. m. Wednesday. Rev. Ernest S. WORDEN will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. Her body is at McGregor Brothers and Coens funeral home and will be taken to the home of her daughter Mrs. Elsie RASMUSSEN, 1010 west Montgomery street, Wednesday morning. It will be taken to the church at 1 p. m. Wednesday to lie in state before the services. The casket will not be opened after the funeral services.
Matilda MORRIS was born near Rosebrook, Va., May 20, 1869. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sewell MORRIS. She was married at Standardsville, Va., Jan. 8, 1891, to James Thomas COLLIER, who preceded her in death May 29, 1939. They operated a farm near Creston until 1929 when they moved to Creston.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Walter KNOP of Atlantic, Mrs. Elsie RASMUSSEN of Creston and Mrs. Ralph STAMM of Los Angeles, Calif.; and four sons, L. M. COLLIER of Springfield, Mo., Floyd COLLIER of Ellston, A. M. COLLIER of San Fraincisco (sic), Calif., and Tommy COLLIER of Creston.
A daughter, Josephine, preceded her in death.
