OBITUARY - JOHN WILLIAM SLACK

John William SLACK, was born in Ireland, May 26, 1873 and died at his home in Tingley, Iowa August 27, 1945. He came to this country with his parents in 1881. He was married to Viva E. RAWLINGS December 24, 1895. She passed away June 14, 1925. To this union three children were born, one dying in infancy. On December 17, 1927 he married Nellie D. McCOWEN and since then has lived in Tingley, Iowa the last 15 months of his life he has been an invalid. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Nellie D. SLACK, a daughter, Hallene COMBS, of New Market, a son George SLACK of Douglas, Wyo; two sisters, Hannah MANKLE of Topeka, Kans, Georgia PATTON of Centralia, Wash, and a brother Isaac SLACK of Shenandoah and three grandchildren; Joan Slack of Clarinda, Pfc Estel D. COMBS serving in the armed forces and Lyle E. COMBS of New Market, besides a host of relatives and friends.

NOTE: John William SLACK, Viva E. (RAWLINGS) SLACK,and George R. SLACK (1901-1956) were interred at Dallas Center Cemetery, Dallas Center, Iowa.
