Duane Abner Simpson, 80, of Monmouth, Ill., died at 6 a.m. Sunday, January 11, 2004, at his home.
Born May 19, 1923, in Diagonal, he was the son of Lloyd Dean and Sarah Ruth (BUNN) SIMPSON. On May 22, 1947, in Biggsville, Ill., he married Carolyn Elizabeth HENDRICKSON.
Mr. SIMPSON farmed from 1947 until 1958. He then moved to Monmouth and worked for 30 years at the Monmouth Supersweet Feedmill until retiring in 1988. He was a member and deacon of the Faith United Presbyterian Church and Men's Fellowship. He loved to travel and play cards. He collected lighthouses.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sharon Kay SIMPSON of Aledo, Ill., and Connie Lynn LOUCK of Batavia, Ohio; two sons, Dennis SIMPSON and Duane SIMPSON, both of Monmouth; six grandchildren; three great–grandchildren and two brothers, Billy SIMPSON of Moline, Ill., and Jimmy Simpson of Casa Grande, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one brother.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth, with the Rev. William C. MYERS officiating. The body has been cremated.
Mr. SIMPSON's family will receive friends following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.
Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials have been established for Community Hospices of America and Faith United Presbyterian Church.
