OBITUARY - GEO. SHUM

Geo. SHUM was born September 11, 1855 and died at his home in Gravity January 12, 1941 at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 1 day. He had been confined to his home for several months.

He was married to Ada M. BICKFORD Feb. 3, 1878. To them were born nine children: Bert, Alonzo, and Paul preceded their parents in death. His wife died in 1922.

May 21, 1923 he was married to Della SHIPLEY.

Mr. SHUM spent the most of his life in Taylor County, residing on a farm for a number of years and retiring to Gravity in the year 1916. In the year 1892 he was converted and united with the Free Methodist church the same year and remained a faithful member until his death.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife and children, Claud SHUM of Diagonal, Pete SHUM of Bedford and Emma of New Market, John SHUM of Hood River, Oregon, Frank SHUM of Wessington Springs, So. Dak. and Mae of Bingen, Wash.; 24 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one brother, Jim SHUM of Clarinda.
