OBITUARY.

Died, at his home, in Liberty township, June 15th, 1889, Luther N. NOBLES. He was born in Utica, N.Y., July 7, 1809. Moved from there to Ohio, where he was married to Clarinda IMUS, Sept., 8, 1836. They moved to Illinois in 1853, and to Ringgold county, Iowa, in 1855. There were born unto them, eleven children, ten of whom are living, five boys and five girls. George, Giles and Mrs, Mary PIERSON, residing in Ringgold county, Iowa; Mrs. Adaline BUFORD, Mrs. Sarah BUFORD, Mrs. Clarissa SLACK and James, in Oregon, William and Nathaniel in Indian Territory, and Mrs. Sophronia WINCHEL in Nebraska. In 1886 they celebrated their golden wedding, the children all being present. This worthy couple were beloved by all who knew them. Their charity and hospitality were boundless. Uncle NOBLES was never heard to say a word against anyone, but was ever ready by kind word or deed to help and encourage all. Among the earliest settlers of Ringgold county, their home was know (sic) far and wide. Lively and and (sic) sociable, and with a peculiar droll wit that made it pleasurable as well as profitable to converse with him. The thrilling and interesting incidents that he would relate of his life, back fifty, sixty, and even seventy years, makes us, that are many years younger realize the blessings that we are surrounded by, and ought to make us appreciate them. May we profit by the example of his life and thank God that we do not have to pass through the trials and privations, that Uncle and Auntie NOBLES have. The last years of his life were made comfortable and pleasant by the care and devotion of the children that lived near, who were always ready to do any thing that would add to fathers or mothers comfort. May the bereaved widow, children and the aged brother look unto God, the true source of all comfort and consolation for strength, in this their time of need. The funeral services were at the house, June 19th, and were conducted by Bro. Jno. A. GLESAN. --M.B.
