Charles Wesley HASKINS passed away at 6 pm Saturday, July 10, 1943, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edith DIXON, 413 North Third Street [Ponca City OK], after a long illness aggravated by a stroke two weeks ago. He was 75-years-old, having been born March 20, 1868, in Marion County, Iowa. He was married December 5, 1891, at Mount Ayr, Iowa, to Miss Clara MARRYMAN (sic) who survives. He participated in the Cherokee Strip opening in 1893, and staked a claim seven miles south of Lamont, where he lived until 1932 when he moved to Ponca City. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1902.
Survivors other than his wife are as follows: 10 children, Mrs. Edith DIXON of Ponca City, Mrs. Ethel KIRKPATRICK, Roy HASKINS, Mrs. Addie PEASE, Mrs. Hazel MARSHALL, Mrs. Faye BRACHEAR, and Nelson HASKINS, all of Arkansas CIty, Kansas; Lawrence HASKINS of Ponca City; Arthur HASKINS, who is in the Army Air Corps; Howard HASKINS of Hunter, Oklahoma; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. One brother, Ira HASKINS of Billings, Oklahoma; and four sisters, Mrs. Clara OERKE and Mrs. Nora MOON of Caldwell, KS; Mrs. Sarah MARRYMAN (sic) of Iola, KS; and Mrs. Stella LANDES of Burkburnett, Texas.
