May, 1872OBITUARY - Mrs. LOUIS BEAR
Anna Mary KEEFER was born in Somerset Coounty, Pennsylvania on February 13, 1815. She was married to Louis BEAR in 1831. She came with her husband to Iowa in 1857. Mr. BEAR died May 13, 1872.
Mrs. BEAR was the mother of fourteen children, but only four survive her; a daughter [Mary A. (BEAR) LOCKE] in California, a son [Samuel BEAR] in Oregon, another son [Solomon BEAR] in Ringgold County, Iowa, and Mrs. Henry BUCKNER [Agnes Nancy (BEAR)], in whose home she spent the last six years of her life and where she passed away [on January 4, 1904, Clearfield, Taylor County, Iowa].
Mrs. BEAR was a member of the Luthern Evangelical Church. At the age of fourteen she was confirmed and contined in that faith all her life. She had been an invalid for six years, being confined to home and bed, but patiently did she endure her afflictions.
The funeral services were conducted at the home of H. J. BUCKNER Tuesday at 11 o'clock, by Rev. WINEGAR, assisted by Rev. SONNER. The remains were shipped to Ellston for interment (sic, Interment was at Bear Cemetery).
The sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of all.
