OBITUARY.
ABNER GOODELL was born in Mansfield, Tolland county, Conn., March 1, 1829. With this parents he moved to Marion county, Ohio, in 1831. He was an only son, and his father dying, he was left at ten years of age to fight the battle of life. In 1851 he was married to Fanny (sic) A. BUNKER, of Hardin county, Ohio, and in the fall of 1856 he with his family moved to Ringgold county, Iowa. He was one of the pioneers of the county, a useful, progressive and substanial citizen. He was the father of ten children, five of whom, with their mother, survive him. They were all at his bedside before his death. He united with the Presbyterian church of Mt. Ayr in 1872. A number of months ago he was seized with paralysis and was almost helpless and speechless until the time of his death, which occurred at the old family omestead at Wirt, Jan. 4, 1890. The funeral service was held at the Evangelical church at Wirt, January 6th, the sermon being preached by Rev. Wm. B. THOMPSON. His remains were laid to rest in the Mt. Ayr [Rose Hill] cemetery.
