Mount Ayr Record-News, 1926

OBITUARY - D. A. GLENDENNING.

David Ames GLENDENNING, son of James and Elizabeth GLENDENNING, was born in Missouri, March 13, 1849, and departed this life March 17, 1926, in Mount Ayr, age 77 years, and four days. He was a member of nine children, all preceding him in death. On March 12, 1874, he was married to Mary J. BROWN, who died September 1875. On March 17, 1878, he was again united in marriage to Mary E. YOUNG.

To this union twelve children were born, two dying in infancy; two daughters residing in Nebraska; two sons in Colorado, the remaining ones live in this county.

At the age of twenty-seven he united with the United Brethren church near Redding, Iowa, and a year ago, went into the Methodist church of Mount Ayr. He lived in Middle Fork township for some thirty years and over eight years ago was stricken with a stroke of paralysis from which he never fully recovered. Everything was done that skilful (sic) doctors could do to restore his health but all was in vain. He was a silent sufferer. Although an invalid for over eight years, he never complained and was always cheerful and thoughtful of his aged wife, who cared for him to the last. The body was laid to rest in the Rose Hill cemetery.

Card of Thanks.

We take this means of thanking our neighbors and friends for their words of kindness and sympathy and for their beautiful floral offerings.
