OBITUARY - MARY ELLEN (LEE) GEIGER.

Mary Ellen LEE was born January 14, 1878, and died March 30, 1926, at the age of forty-eight years, two months and sixteen days.

She was born [1876] in Warren county, Illinois. An orphan, her mother having died when she was a small girl, she made her home with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David LEE. They left Illinois, coming to Iowa, March 1, 1883.

She was united in marriage to John GEIGER February 17, 1898. To this union were born two children - Jessie Agnes and Vance Edward, the daughter dying January 12, 1907, when about four years of age. After their marriage they moved to their farm near Redding where they lived until about four years ago, when they mover (sic) to their home in Redding.

She united with the Christian church at Delphos about fifteen years ago under the pastorate of Rev. Lloyd ELILS, and remained a true and faithful member until the Master called her. She was ever doing her Master's work in whatever place it might be. She was a worker in the M. E. Sunday school and the Helpers' Union society. Not being able to work in her own church, she yet found the Master's work for she was a firm believer in the Lord. For He has said, "Blessed are they that die in the Lord, for their works do follow them."

She leaves to mourn, her husband, John GEIGER, her son Vance, who was called from Maryville, Mo., where he was at college; her cousins, Miss Hannah LEE of Monmouth, Ill.; Thos. LEE of Wray, Colo.; Will LEE of Spokane, Wash.; John LEE of Chicago, Ill.; and Mrs. Minnie THURMAN of Grand River, Iowa.

NOTE: Mary Ellen (LEE) GEIGER was interred at Redding Cemetery, Redding, Ringgold County, Iowa. John GEIGER, husband of Mary Ellen (LEE), was born in 1870, and died in 1962. Vance, son of John and Mary Ellen (LEE) GEIGER, was born in 1907, and died in 1988. He married Zeline (?) who was born in 1910. John and Vance GEIGER were interred at Redding Cemetery.

Jessie Agnes, daughter of John and Mary Ellen (LEE) GEIGER, was born in 1901, and died at the age of four years, three months and one day on January 12, 1906. She was interred at Saint Mary's Cemetery at Maloy, Ringgold County, Iowa.

David LEE, Mary Ellen's grandfather who raised her after she was orphaned, was born in 1833, and died at the age of seventy years, seven months and five days on November 5, 1903 with interment at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Maloy.
