OBITUARY - BERNARD I. DUFTY

Bernard I. DUFTY, son of Murland and Anna (DRAKE) DUFTY, was born on December 12, 1914, in Ringgold County, Iowa, and passed away at the family home September 4, 1999, in Rye. On September 13, 1935, he was united in marriage to Marguerite VANCE. To this union, five children were born, Peggy (Richard) WALTER of Indianola, Iowa, Alan DUFTY of Rye, Nancy (Morgan) MITCHELL of Del Norte, Linda (Richard) CLENNIN of Beulah, and Sherry (Bill) BELL of Canon City. Survivors include his wife, Marguerite- five children- 11 grandchildren- 12 great-grandchildren- and one sister, Verba (Robert) BECK of Kellerton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Lyndon and Leland.

Bernard and Marguerite moved to Rye in 1967 after living on a farm in Ringgold County, Iowa, for 32 years. He was a member of the Rye Home Methodist Church and a retired farmer and carpenter. The center of his life was always his family and garden.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 1999, at the Rye Home Methodist Church. Private graveside services will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Rye. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rye Home Methodist Church or Sangre de Cristo Hospice.
