OBITUARY - MRS. S. E. DILLE

Mayzell WEST, daughter of Samuel B. and Margaret (SAMS) WEST, was born in Greene county, Pennsylvania, July 2, 1865, and died January 2, 1926, in Mount Ayr, Iowa.

When about five years of age, she, with her parents, moved to a farm near Delphos, Ringgold county, Iowa. At the age of nineteen years, she united with the Delphos Baptist church. In 1895 she became a member of the Church of Christ, at Benton, Iowa, and condintued in its membership until her death.

On October 14, 1896, she was united in marriage to S. E. [Ed] DILLE at Benton, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Joseph West, Mary Ellen and Leo. Both sons died in childhood. SHe is survived by her devoted husband and daughter who have been untiring in their efforts to make her comfortable and happy. She is the last of a family of nine children, but many nieces and nephews cherish the memory of her deeds of kindness and helpfulness.

The most of her life was spent on a farm near Benton, Iowa. In October, 1925, she with her husband and daughter moved to Mount Ayr, Iowa, where the daughter was a member of the faculty of the public school.

Aunt Mayzell, as she was best known, stood first of all as a wife and mother, but her interests were not confined to the home circle alone. She was active in church work, and in the various communities where she lived, her cheer, energy and enthusiasm were the life of many a gathering.

Her sweet womanliness, her unselfishness and her cheerfulness at all times endeared her to all who knew her and won her a lasting place in our hearts.

Funeral services were held from the Benton Christian church Monday afternoon, January 4th, conducted by Rev. SOWALTER, assisted by Rev. Ross WILLIAMS, and interment was made in the Benton Cemetery.

NOTE: Edward DILLE, husband of Mayzell (WEST), was born in 1862 and died in 1955. Joseph West "Joe" DILLE was born in October of 1897, and died November 5, 1899, with interment at Benton Cemetery. Leo DILLE, infant son of Mayzell (WEST) and Edward, died at the age of five months and seven days. He was interred at Benton Cemetery.
