OBITUARY - CHARLES F. DILLE

Charles F. DILLE was born at East Euclid, Cuyahoga county, Ohio, August 8, 1828. When ten years of age he came with his parents to Kankakee county, Illinois, where he was married to Vennella (sic) CATING March 17, 1858. In 1876 he moved to Ringgold county, where he died January 21, 1891, from the effects of a cancer on the lower part of the face. The funeral services were held at the Benton church, M. A. JACKSON, of Mt. Ayr, delivering the sermon, and B. D. HIMEBAUGH gave a reminiscience of Mr. DILLE's life. The remains were interred at the Marshalltown Cemetery [near Benton].

For some years previous to 1859, deceased belonged to the M. E. church, but since that date he has been a consistent and much esteemed member of the Church of Christ. He has at various times engaged in preaching the Gospel, and possessed those qualities which go to make up a good citizen and thorough christian gentleman. He was an ex-member of the board of county supervisors. For some months previous to his death his sufferings were intense but borne with Christian fortitude. There chanced to hang over his bed a motto which bespeaks his destiny: "After the clouds the Sunshine."

NOTE: Virnilla (CATING) DILLE, wife of Charles F., was born on April 22, 1832, and died on February 11, 1913, with interment at Benton Cemetery.
