OBITUARY - MARIETTA (BAUMAN) DEWEY

Marietta BAUMAN, daughter of S. P. and Dorothy BAUMAN, was born October 21, 1861, in Ringgold county near Lenox, Iowa, and died December 16, 1931, aged 64 years, one month and 25 days. Most of her married life was spent in Ringgold county. She was married February 21, 1889, to John E. DEWEY. To this union was born three children, Mrs. Nona GILES and Mrs. Hazel VANDERPLUYME, of this vicinity, and Edwin, who died at Camp Pike, Ark., in 1918 [during the Spanish influenza epidemic]. She was a member of the Methodist church. Mrs. DEWEY was a lover of home and family and in these found her greatest delight. She leaves to mourn her husband, two daughters, thirteen grandchildren, seven brothers and two sisters, besides a large number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Tingley M. E. church, conducted by Rev. E. I. BEVINS, assisted by Rev. G. S. NICHOLS. Interment was made by the side of her son in the Tingley cemetery.

NOTE: Edwin DEWEY, son of Marietta (BAUMAN) and John E., was born January 6, 1894, and died March 4, 1918.
