DEATH of Mrs. MARTHA E. COOPER

A message was received last Thursday by Jerry COWELL announcing the death of Mrs. Martha E. COOPER, an early settler and long-time resident of Ringgold county, and containing the information that the body, accompanied by her son, John COOPER, and his daughter Bertha, of Salida, Colo., would reach Mount Ayr that evening. Upon their arrival in Mount Ayr Mr. COOPER and daughter were taken to COWELL home and the body was conveyed to the Rhoades undertaking parlors where funeral services were held Friday afternoon, being conducted by Rev. Jay KIRKENDALL, pastor of the Methodist church. The interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.

Martha E. HAMLIN was born June 26, 1848, and departed this life January 20, 1925, aged 75 years, five months and 26 days. She was united in marriage to I. N. COOPER in 1866. Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. COOPER moved to Ringgold county, where they established their home. To them were born two sons, Silas COOPER of Creamer, N.D., and John COOPER of Salida, Colo. The husband and father died May 10, 1915. Mrs. COOPER was a resident of Ringgold county from 1866 until five years ago, when she went to live with her son at Salida, Colo., where she was tenderly cared for during the last years of her life. She was a good mother, a kind neighbor and was loved by all who knew her.

Card of Thanks.

We wish to express to the old neighbors and friends of the Mount Ayr community our heart-felt thanks for the kindness expressed in acts of helpfulness and words of sympathy on the occasion of the funeral.
