The Rev. George PENNINGTON, who has been pastor of the local Methodist church for the past three years, and who is moving to his new pastorate at Columbus Junction, and the Rev. C. W. WOOLLARD, who has been assigned to the Mount Ayr church from College Springs, were the guests of honor at a co-operative dinner and reception held Tuesday evening of last week.
Ministers of the other churches in the community and their families were included in the courtesy.
Arrangements for the evening were made by members of the Social Relations committee of the W.S.C.S., of which Mrs. Sarah THOMAS serves as chairman; Mrs. Tina SHIMER served as dining room hostess and Carl F. PETERSEN was in charge of the informal program. Musical numbers, arranged by Margaret PENCE, included a girls' quartet - Marcia PENNEMA, Beverly HUDSON, Sybil DENHART and Suzanne TODD; two accordion solos by Marcie FENNEMA and a solo, "Bless This House," by Janet HUDSON.
The Rev. and Mrs. WOLLARD greeted their new congregation and were welcomed by Mr. Roy LEPLEY for the W.S.C.S., Mrs. Alvin VARNER for the Wesleyan Guild, and Robert HUDSON for the Sunday school.
The Rev. U. E. BURROUGHS, pastor of the First Baptist church, and the Rev. Harold A. REEL, pastor of the First Christian church, expressed their appreciation of the Rev. Mr. PENNINGTON during his residence in Mount Ayr. The program was closed with a short talk by Mr. PENNINGTON.
