Dean Ernest Forsyth
(April 13, 1936 - July 19, 2018)Dean Ernest Forsyth, the son of Ernest A. and Cleta M. (Dean) Forsyth was born April 13, 1936 at Griswold, Iowa. He passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at the Methodist Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 82 years, 3 months and 6 days. Dean was raised in Griswold and graduated from Griswold High School in 1954. Following graduation, his career in the lumber business began with working for OK Builders at Lewis, Iowa. On February 14, 1960, Dean was united in marriage to Carol A. Thompson at Griswold, Iowa. They made their home in Red Oak on November 1, 1960. Dean’s lumber career continued as he worked for Green Bay Lumber and the Farmers Mercantile lumber department, both of Red Oak, United Building Centers, Clarinda and United Building Centers, Shenandoah, from where he retired. Dean enjoyed bowling, attending car shows and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Midwest Antique Auto Club and past member of Red Oak Eagles Lodge. Dean was preceded in death by his parents. Dean is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol Forsyth of Red Oak, IA: son, Kendall Forsyth and wife, Teresa of Council Bluffs, IA; granddaughter, Heather Lyons and husband, John of Blair, NE; great-grandson, Cody; sister, Donna Tye and husband, Jack of Griswold, IA; brother, Keith Forsyth; niece, Jackie Jones and husband, Dennis of Greenfield, IA; and nephew, Jeff Tye of York, NE; other relatives and friends.
