LaVerne passed away on November 29 at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 3 at Living Faith Lutheran Church, 2180 NW 142nd St. Clive. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, December 2 at Caldwell-Raddatz Funeral Home, 8201 Hickman Road, Urbandale.
LaVerne was born on February 21, 1932 in Mason City, Iowa to Albert and Selma (Holmen) Hoveland. He graduated from Mason City High School and has worked in the printing business since high school. He married Ramona on October 25, 1959. He was the owner for 20 years of R & L Graphic Printing Company. During his retirement he worked at Glen Oaks Country Club. LaVerne enjoyed bowling, golfing and reading.
LaVerne is survived by his wife, Ramona; children, Debra Hanson (Douglas), Eric Hoveland (Raquel), Dan Christensen (Marilyn), Darrel Christensen (Sharon), and Glenn Christensen (Rhonda); ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Eleanor Hovell; brothers, Marvin, Arnold, Ervin and Walter Hoveland. Memorials may be made to the church or Diabetes Association.
