Helen Jolly, 88, passed away on November 29, 2011, Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2011, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, at Berlin Cemetery in Berlin, Missouri.
Helen was born on October 7, 1923, to Edward and Ola Hedges in Warrensburg, Missouri. She graduated from Farmer's High School in Warrensburg, MO, and Central Business College in Kansas City, KS.
Helen worked until the age of 72 as a bookkeeper for several companies in Indiana, Kansas, Iowa, and Missouri. Helen was a school treasurer and city treasurer, and president of United Way in Scranton, IA. She was a 50-year member of Eastern Star and enjoyed church activities and bridge club. Helen retired in 1994, living in St. Joseph, MO, until moving to Crestview Acres in West Des Moines in 2001. The past two years, she resided at the Rose of East Des Moines.
Helen will be missed by her sons, Curtis (Madelyn) Pegg and Edward (Connie) Pegg; grandchildren, Mark (Sue Ellen) Pegg, Cindy Jennings (Bill Untiedt), Kim (Troy) Zeleznik, and Matt Pegg (Ann Lockhart); and brothers-in-law, Norlan Sager and Stanford Pegg. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Chauncey B. Pegg (1971) and Raymond Jolly (1978); and brothers, Carl, John, and Eugene Hedges; and sister, Barbara Sager.
