Emy Lou "Lucky" Pickett, 89, passed away on December 4, 2011, of heart failure, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. Private family burial at Union Chapel Cemetery will follow the services.
Lucky was born on October 12, 1922, to Walter and Cecil Beals in Colfax, Iowa. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1940, and moved to Des Moines. She married Walter Pickett on May 10, 1947. She was a member of ABWA, the Shrine Auxiliary, and Eastern Star. Lucky enjoyed bartending at Pickett's Pub and the Woodland Lounge, after retiring from Butterworth Tire.
Lucky will be missed by her son, Michael Pickett (Gena); grandchildren, Tyler Pickett (Kristin), Mitchell Pickett, and Griffin Pickett; and great-grandchildren, Lillian, Cameron, and Brennan; and many good friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter W. Pickett; and brother, Robert Beals.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, 1100 Shriners Parkway, Altoona, Iowa 50009.
