Saffell, Jack R. “Bob” - 1943-2011

Jack R. ("Bob") Saffell, Sr., 68, died December 6. A funeral mass will be held Friday, December 9 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the church.
Jack was born April 28, 1943 in West Des Moines, and spent most of his adult life on the West Coast. He joined the Army and served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the Americal Division. He loved Back To The 50s car shows, travel and cross-country skiing. He liked taking long walks with his dogs, Wilson and Woody. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and spending hours working on his car in his friend Tom's garage. He loved life and laughed often.
He is survived by his 1948 Chevy Fleetline; wife, Anita; children, Jack Jr. (Ada) Saffell of Warsaw, Poland, and Linda (Donald) Bennett of Searcy, Arkansas; sister, Judy Howard; grandchildren, Jacek, Zunia, Allison, Jason, and James Saffell, and Katie-Anne Toenjes, and Charlotte Green.
The family would like to thank Doctors Matt Hill, Katrina Guest, and Sudhir Kumar, and the staff of Powell 3 for their care and support of Jack.
Memorials may be made to the John Stoddard Cancer Center, Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
