Dorothy O. Schoonover, 85, passed away Friday, December 9 at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 12 at Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 W. First St., Ankeny, IA. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Ankeny Funeral Home. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Dorothy was born April 14, 1926 to Albert and Hetty Davenport in Altamont, MO. When she was two years old her family moved to Cooper, Kentucky. She owned and operated Golden Scissors Beauty Salon until her retirement.
Survivors include her son, Gary and wife Debby Schoonover of Ankeny, IA; grandchildren, Lisa Houghton of Des Moines, IA; Chelsie (Kris) Dirksen of Des Moines, IA; great grandchildren, Collin and Alexis; sister, Viola Gamble of FL; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents; son, Craig; six brothers; and four sisters.
