Julia Patricia "Judy" Donahue, 83, passed from this life on Monday, December 12, 2011 at ManorCare Health Services in Davenport, IA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines, where the family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until the mass time on Thursday. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
Judy was born the daughter of Richard H. and Margaret L. Rolow Casey on January 3, 1928 in Des Moines. She was a 1945 graduate of St. Joseph's Academy. On November 20, 1948, Judy married John J. "Jack" Donahue in Des Moines, and their marriage was blessed with five children. From 1964-1974, they lived in the Quad-City area, until they moved back to West Des Moines, where they made their home. Judy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Mercy Guild and the Bishop Drumm Guild. She was a former member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church, where she had belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society and St. Theresa's Catholic Women's League. In addition to being a homemaker all her life and raising her family, Judy had volunteered countless hours at both Mercy Hospital and Bishop Drumm. For ten years, she also shined as a Reading Mentor Volunteer for First through Third Graders at Findley Elementary School in Des Moines.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, Jack Donahue; children, Linda (Pat) Glynn of Davenport, IA, Sheila (Mark) Douglas of West Des Moines, Dan (Cheryl) Donahue of Davenport, Julia (Rich Bernstein) Donahue of Omaha, NE, and Mary (Dan) Breidinger also of Davenport; and 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Judy was preceded into eternal life by her parents; and one brother at infancy.
