Riggle, Lester L. - 1927-2012

Lester L. Riggle, 84, passed from this life on Sunday June 17, 2012, at Calvin Community in Des Moines, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday June 22, 2012, at the Iles Funeral Home-Westover Chapel. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa.
Lester was born on July 26, 1927, in Centerville, Iowa to Alva and Noma Riggle. He graduated from Elkhart High School and served with the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII and the U.S Air Force during the Korean War.
Lester was a sales executive for Boyle-Midway for 31 years and was recognized as a National Salesman of the Year. He retired in 1990. He was an avid sports fan and coached many Beaverdale little league teams including one that won a state championship. Lester also enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in many sports. He was a life-long Chicago Cubs fan and supported the Minnesota Vikings since their inception. He was a member of Beer Can Collectors of America and maintained an extensive collection of Big Band era Music.
He will be missed by his sons, Lex (Sarah) Riggle of Lihue, HI, Lance Riggle of Des Moines, and Lane (Alice) Riggle of Knoxville; seven grandchildren (Nathan, Jacob, Danny, Amanda, Kyle, Josh and Toby); one great grandson (Will); nieces, Judy (Mike) Spalding, Joanna (Ken) Mazantti, Janet (Jay) Austin; former wife and friend, Marilyn Riggle; and many other friends and family. Lester joins his parents, Alva and Noma Riggle, and a sister, Dorothy McClelland, in God's heavenly kingdom.
