Mildred, 92, passed away June 22, 2012 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Her funeral will be 3 p.m., Tuesday, June 26 at Merle Hay Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.

Mildred L. Cox, daughter of Leslie and Nina (Blomquist) Agler, was born October 6, 1919 in Marathon, Iowa. Following high school, she attended Buena Vista College and the University of South Dakota and graduated from both with honors. Mildred worked in civil service during WWII. She was a teacher for more than 40 years, teaching the last 20 years in the Saydel School District.

Mildred was united in marriage with Donald Cox on December 22, 1942. She was a member of Ankeny First United Methodist Church.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Ronald and Charles Agler.

Mildred is remembered by her husband, Donald; sister-in-law, Ila Agler; many nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be left with Mildred's family, who will designate them at a later date.
