Darline Wymer, 80, went to be with her Lord on Friday, February 24, 2012. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at Grandview Park Funeral Home where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Darline was born in Des Moines on September 21, 1931, to John and Virgie (Fredrickson) Smith. She lived in Des Moines all of her life and served as a foster parent to many children. Darline also sponsored many Asian families as they adjusted to their new lives in the United States. She enriched the lives of many people and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her children, Diana (Chris) Widmer of Bondurant, Virgie (Paul) Killen of Altoona, Samuel Wymer of Des Moines, Twyla (Leslie) Conklin of Des Moines, Earl "Skippy" Kalar of Des Moines; ten grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; siblings, Earl, Ralph, Barbara, Timothy, Maryetta, Dowell, Joan, Joel, Pearl, Jeri and Marvin. Waiting for her in heaven are her siblings, Johnny, Albert, Hank, Daniel, Roy, Joe and Ruby.
