Stephen Craig Johnston, 56, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Taylor House Hospice, surrounded by family and friends.
Stephen was born September 3, 1955 in Des Moines. He graduated from East High School and worked for BF Goodrich/Delevan for over 20 years. Stephen was a devoted family man and loved to help others. He will be remembered as a man of integrity and compassion.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Karen; mother, Nioma Johnston; father, Jack (Ruthan) Johnston; sister, Dianna (Jim) Flaten; sister-in-law, Tania Johnston; grandmother, Rose Johnston; his animal children, Sadie and Blackjack; and a host of other extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and brother, Kenny.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2012 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. followed by burial at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
