The New Year's Celebration of 1979 included the birth of a new baby. On New Year's Day, Evelyn Zinnah was born to Columbus C. and Betty T. (Bewaye) Zinnah, in Monrovia, Liberia.
Evelyn received her primary education at Dorr Elementary School in Liberia. After graduation, Evelyn emigrated to the United States, living first in Illinois and Indiana before moving to Iowa in 2005.
Evelyn was the life of the party. She loved making people happy and loved to play. She was a very outgoing person who never met a stranger. While Evelyn was very outgoing, she was also opinionated and spoke the truth. Even if she was telling you off, she did it in a way that would make you laugh. She didn't do it to hurt your feelings, it was just the truth. She loved traveling and meeting people. Evelyn was a good cook and great dancer.
On September 13, 2012, Evelyn made her transition to Heaven. She was 33 years old. Preceding her in death were her grandmothers, Quenoh Bewaye and Panyon Zinnah. Also preceding her was her uncle, Matthew Zinnah.
Evelyn leaves to cherish her smile and playful ways, her children, Oliver Zinnah, Junior Zinnah, Tina Zinnah, Patience Zinnah, Stacy Sayee and Jordan Zinnah; her parents, Columbus and Betty Zinnah; her sister, Linda Zinnah and brother, Benedict Zinnah along with many friends in the Liberian community.
Evelyn, may God keep you in perfect peace. We will see you on that great getting up morning!
