Moylan, Virginia “Mickey” Mason Clark - 1919-2012

Mickey, 93, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. She was born June 6, 1919 to Lenore and John Mason, and lived almost her entire life in Des Moines, moving to Urbandale recently. She married Glen W. Clark on June 16, 1937. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary #374. Mickey had also belonged to the Auburn Assembly of Eastern Star.
Mickey and Glen enjoyed square dancing all over the United States and were President and Vice President of the International Square Dance Association, and hosted the annual convention in Des Moines in June, 1972. They were members of several local clubs. Mickey also very proudly worked at the Ordnance Plant in Ankeny during World War II while her husband served overseas in the Marines.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Jerry) Shepherd of Johnston; three grandchildren, Cindy (Bill) Woodhall of Des Moines, Jon (Stacy) Shepherd of Irving, Texas, and Jeff (Missy) Shepherd of Johnston; nine great-grandchildren who were all very special to her, Tim Lage, Mark (Brandi) Lage, and Matt Woodhall of Des Moines, Michael, Jacob, and Nicholas Shepherd of Irving, Texas, and Alyssa, Carley, and Chase Shepherd of Johnston. Mickey was excited with the births of her two great-great grandchildren, Rogue and Mark Lage III of Des Moines.
Preceding her in death were her husband Glen; her daughters L. Maxine Clark, Karen Sue Clark, and Glenda Lee Clark; her brothers, Wilbur and Joe Lee, and Jack Mason; and her parents.
Visitation will be at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel on Thursday, October 4, 2012 with family present from 5 to 8 p.m., with funeral services on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
Mom, Grandma, GG, you will always be in our hearts. Please know how much we will always love you!
