McIntosh, Wilma Marie - 1923-2012

Wilma Marie McIntosh, 88, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
A memorial gathering for friends and family will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Iles Funeral Homes - Dunn's Chapel. A private family burial at the Colo Cemetery in Colo, Iowa, will follow.
Wilma was born on November 23, 1923, in Colo to Robert and Gladys (Granger) McIntosh. She graduated from Colo High School and AIB College. Wilma was employed for 40 years with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Des Moines and was an active member of the Telephone Pioneer Organization. Wilma was also an active member of the Des Moines Chapter No. 89 Order of the Eastern Star in Pleasant Hill, Iowa. She volunteered at Iowa Methodist Medical Center from 1984 to 2012. She was honored in April of 2012 for having served 8,000 volunteer hours. She was well liked by everyone at the hospital. She delivered flowers and mail and helped with numerous special projects. Spending mornings with her Merle Hay Mall walking friends was an important, enjoyable part of her life.
Wilma is survived and lovingly remembered by her brother, R. Clare and (Mary) McIntosh of Runnells; two sisters, Dorothy Olson of Nevada and Helen Bradshaw of Ames; sister-in-law, Shirley McIntosh of Boone; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gladys McIntosh; sister, Harriett Hamilton; and brother, Darrell McIntosh.
