Lochmann, Lewis C. - 1921-2012

Lewis Lochmann, 91, passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 at Mercy Hospice. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Lewis was born June 7, 1921 in Collinsville, IL to Martin and Florence Lochmann. He served five years in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 66th Infantry Division. He had lived in West Des Moines for 62 years and worked over 50 years at Parr Manufacturing before retiring in 2009.
Lewis and Betty were founding members of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and were currently members at Shepherd of the Valley. He was a V.F.W. member, a lifetime St. Louis Cardinal and Valley Tiger fan, and he loved his grandkids. They made his face light up.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty; son, Richard (Kathleen) Lochmann; two daughters, Karen (Brent) Jackson and Kristine (Michael) Nicewarner; and five grandchildren; Dr. Timothy Lochmann, Nicholas and Kaitlyn Jackson, Brandon Throndson and Preston Nicewarner.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McLaren's Chapel. Memorials may be given to Mercy Hospice or to Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.
