Bob, age 90, died October 23 at his home at Calvin Community. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 26 at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 321 Euclid Ave Des Moines. A visitation will start at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial with military honors will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Masonic Cemetery, Des Moines.
Bob was born on October 1, 1922 in Chicago, IL to Robert J. Byas and Myrtle Blume Byas. Bob graduated from North High School and then attended Cornell College for three years. He served during World War II in the Army Air Corp. After the war he attended and graduated from Drake University. He married Jeanne Lorey on October 11, 1947. He worked as an accountant and retired from State of Iowa Auditors Department. He was a 50 year member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church, in which he was a former church treasurer. He was also a member of Aubum Masonic Lodge and Golden K Kiwanis. Bob enjoyed golfing, and traveling after he retired.
Bob is survived by his son, Bill Byas and partner Tracy Brewer of Taos, NM; daughters, Barbara of Des Moines and Lori Denes (Joe) of Kansas City. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife of 64 years, Jeanne.
